Merc 496 riser paint stripping
 

How hard is it to remove the paint, and polish the risers on a merc496? Chemical remover and some buffing? 1 hour per riser or 10? I am removing them to replace the water shutters on my silent choice and wondering how big a project to make them pretty.

I took mine to metal polishing shop.They stripped ad polished them for 70.00

I should have taken them somewhere, its quite a bit of work. I used a chemical stripper and a car buffer. Came out OK. Not as good as some, but better than stock.
