Gibson Turn Down Tips

Who runs them and how do you like them?

My boat is just stupid loud and I see folks on the docks holding their ears and even had some people to applaud when I turned the engines off.

My GGB mufflers help take the edge off but I really like the concept of these turn downs.

I would love to hear your experience with these.

Thanks

:drink:They keep your sunpad nice and wet! But it's better than losing 300 RPM's with their mufflers. My choice this year also.

so do I but the fish cops are trying to finance the government with tickets. I am making my own tips with 4" polished tube and angling them down for under water at dead slow and out when on plane... sounds like my swim platform is going to get wet. its water proof:ernaehrung004:

Mark,
Guys around here have run them for years. But when on plane they are still pretty loud. One friend ran them and still didn't like the noise level at cruise, so he went to a switchable setup.. with down pipes. Now he can start the motor at the dock and everyone knows he is there.. then he shuts them and everyone is happy.. :) :)..

turn downs

Dock, I have 'em on my 24 Lavey with Ilmor 710. I love the things.
I got the long ones and at idle you can talk and be heard without raising your voice. I was the object of some criticism at the dock, restaurants, etc , so I understand where you are coming from.

On plane and running they are about the same as my Gibson mufflers. I know that every boat will experience different levels of sound with turn downs, but they are great for me. Quent

I have the long one's, and they do splash a lot of water, but sitting at the dock is much better, they help a little at cruise also, but the main thing is the fish cops don't all turm and look as soon as I start up.

Quent,

Thanks very much for the reply. At idle and around the docks is all I am looking for. I thought they would have to blow a lot of bubbles in the water but it sounds worse than I thought it would be. My concern is for my wife or anyone else on the swim platform as we back into a dock. If it is too bad I actually have a possible solution in mind that would be easy to do on the aluminum platform to shield it.

If we don't police ourselves they will do is for us and it will cost a lot more than the turn down pipes! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
