I would buy 9qts and start pulling the dip stick at 6 1/2 qts. It dependes on how much you really get out of the pan.If i remember right the specks are a little over 8qts.

8qts with a filter. There is always some left in the engine, oil cooler and lines. Put in 7 qts and then re check the dipstick. Also, for the most accurate reading, check it with the boat in the water or at least at similar angle to how the boat sits in the water. Mine will show a half qt difference and look fuller on the trailer.

cool, well i put 8 in it and primed the oil system using a drill. it was in the operating range after that. im running that valvoline vr-1 race oil 20w-50. i think ill run about 5 hrs on it then change it again. i am running a wix filter also. what is the reccomended interval? 26 hours?

My stock 1996 502 Mag takes 7qts, no more, no less.
