what year did the 502 500hp come out
 

looking for the 1st yr, my 502 390hp was a 93 or 94 and they had a 502 465hp before the 500hp and they had the 540 500 hp and 575hp before the 502 500hp. anyone know thanks.:p

I have a 1991 292 SR1 with a pair of 502s from the factory.They are the Mark IV Mags.There were only 4 of these boats with this set up from the factory.

I know that the HP 500's built in 1995 had finned blue valve covers and then in 1996 and up they were flat with the mirror decal on them. In 1998 they added the "official engine of APBA" or something like that logo on the mirror section of the decal. I thought 1995 was first year for the "HP500" , but maybe it was 1994. Prior to that I thought they were 465's (and had finned valve covers that were black).

1990 had 500 hp 502's.

are you sure your not thinking about the 465hp?
