Head gaskets

I have a stock 502 Mag and I want to put a Vortec Supercharger on it. I plan on building a new "blower motor" this year, but I am running out of time. It will be a good winter project as soon as the 09 boating season is over. Anyway I have a Vortec Supercharger and I was told by several people that I might want to put new head gaskets on before I bolt on the supercharger. Dose anyone know which head gaskets are the best for blower / supercharger applications. I don’t really want to o-ring the heads on this engine so what is the "next best"? Any help would be great!

Your best choice would be Cometics. I have never had a failure from one and have put over 15 psi of boost and over 50 psi of water pressure. If you are going to keep the boost at 5 psi of less, than Fel Pros would work just fine.

Felpro also makes a mls gasket like the cometics either one you will be fine.

Thanks guys. I don’t plan on getting too crazy with this engine, but since the block is out of the boat is there anything else I might want to think about since I am going to put the Vortec on? It is a stock 502 Mag. I have an MSD Ignition, rev limiter and distributer & coil for it too. I am ruining Gil manifolds with 4" risers / pipes?

The stock oil cooler for that engine is rather small,
I would update to at least something like the HP500's
have on them.

You'll want that for the other engine you build anyway.
