The 731 cam is a very good cam. Will run well and make good power. I ran one for 3 seasons.

You can use stock lifters but you will need to check pushrod length. I have 2 sets of pushrods that I used with that cam and stock lifters. Get an adjustable pushrod tool and then tell me what length you come up with and I will check what I have.

Smitty - thanks. I guess I am torwn on using my existing lifters or buying new ones? The ones I have are stock with almost 400 hours on them. After I gave it some thought I am thinking I might change the springs and lifters, after all I am adding the Vortec supercharger. What dose everyone else think?

Yes you are right. the Crane 731 is a big cam. I just spoke to Summit on the phone and the tech sait that the 731 is best suited for 4,000 to 7,200 RMP. This sounds awful high, Is he right? I am not sure if I have the RPM's for that. I was thinking I would run about 5,600 range?
Tell the Summit guy that hyd rollers don't like more than about 6000rpms. |
Tell the guys at Summit to stick to cars. Boats are a whole different deal.
