Engine bore...
I am going to have to rebuild my 454 unless I can find a good deal on something else.
It has already been bored .040 over. Is .060 ok? Scott |
should be no problem

What Generation block is it. Most 454 blocks(Mk IV, Gen V and VI) can go a max of .070 over without a problem. You have to watch for core shift and corrosion from the back side of the cylinders, especially if it is a salt water block. Would not be a bad idea to sonic check the block.

I may have a set of new speed pro pistons .060 over with .230 dome. I'm not sure if they would work with your application depending on what heads you have and what the cc's are. If you have 119 cc chamber with a little bowl work these would put you near 9.5 to 1.

you will be fine

Mine are .070 and supercharged, no problemo.

I talked to Bill at ATECO and he recommended...
based upon what I want to do (I want torque and reliability), that I go .060 over and use a stroker crank resulting in a 496 cube engine.
I think I like this idea. Any comments on this recommendation? Scott |
That combination is built all day long and very reliable.
By the way my 454's are 0.070" over. |
