GPS Speedo Instal

I'm installing an autometer GPS speedo, what is recommended for 12v power source, I was going to use an a hot wire /ignition , or should a have it to a constant hot wire, does the recall clear once you turn the key off? or what is the correct source for power

Should have a wiring diagram. There might be a constant hot. If you do wire it to a switched power source, you will lose your top speed.

I have a wire diagram, it's not real specific, red wire - 12v source, I wired it to the key switch, if it were live 24/7 I think it will run down the battery?
