XR Drive rebuilt by Franks Marine
3 Attachment(s)
I've been having problems with my drives not lasting more than a couple of hours, I decieded to have Mr Gadgets take a look at them. I can't post pictures on OSO so I put them on Island Pirates. These pictures are from my spare drive that hasn't been run since the rebuild. This is just some of what was found. http://www.islandpirates.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=3125 I paid so I can post pictures.

Just added pictures of my other drive, at least Frank is consistant. Take a look it may save you some money.

Cant see the pics. they wont come up.
Dick is a personal friend of mine and is the best out there. No one is more critical with his measurements than he. He has also taken the time to instruct and guide me through many drive rebuilds that I have done, while 800 miles away from him. If I wore a hat, I would tip it to him. :drink: |

These pictures show what Mr Gadgets found in the fresh, never run complete rebuild. This is how it was given back to me, ready to run.

Let me get this straight. Mr.Gadgets is fixing what Franks Marine screwed up.

Here are pictures of my other drive, another fine rebuild, the nut came loose on the vert shaft so I had it completely dissassembled. This drive had 6 to 8 hours towing my daughter on a tube and 3, 130 mph passes on it. I realize this is my fault I chose the shop, I had them do my repair work for several years. I trusted them, I paid them in full every time.

I'd be asking for a refund. I doubt you have much legal recourse, if your doing 130, you are putting more power through the drives than they were designed for. I'm sure that would be the excuse.
Sorry you have had so much trouble. At least you figured out the source of your problem and can get it done right now. |
A refund would be nice, but I'm not even asking, the only reason for the thread is to possibly save others from making the same mistake I did. There's no excuse for poor workmanship, the pictures only show some of the debree that was left in both drives. I'm guessing that's why my lower gears only last a few hours, not to mention bearings and races.
