Default 1989 Scarab Excel engine and performance help!!!!

Ive got a real nice scarab excel with an almost new 350 mercruiser260 hp engine..Its got the alpha 1.5 ratio drive and a 21p mirage prop,,the issue Im having is time to plane is terrible..I want some snap!!!..My first thought was to trash the two barrel for a rpm air gap and an edel 1409 ..But was thinking about just doing a new prop instead..Or should I just go ahead and do both???this boat I feel should be alot quicker out of the hole..Right now it RPMS out good at 4500 and around 55 on the speedo trimmed out...Any and all thoguhts are appreciated...

Sounds about right to me. You could get a 19 for the heavy load days and keep the 21 for normal use. A bigger carb on a stock engine will probably not help the hole shot. It may give you another MPH top end.
