575 SCI problems ????
anybody experienced any problems with there 575 SCI Blown Throttle body Injected 2001 ,running really rich -using lots of Oil ..fuel pressure is dead ballz on & no computer codes ..
thanks in Advance :drink: |
575sci
Oil consumption I would look at rich condition causing a fuel/washout or worse a hole in piston depending on how much is alot? compression/leak test.
Rich condition can be several items but when I worked at GM we had some issues with the truck style throttlebodies merc used with 575's injectors failing, ohm test them or use a timing light to see the spray pattern. Place to start. Thumper |
Not sure of what started the problem, but oil consumption and rich means it could have washed a cylinder or two. If the rings arn't sealing, it can eat a quart a day. I burnt a couple of pistons in the past and had oil everywhere outside the engine with a 3/8" hole.

Fresh 10 hours :drink:
Sounds like more than 1 problem in there to me, but busted piston sounds pretty close. Is it blowing by. |
They do tend to run a little rich, especially when cold.
10 hrs. and using oil....something sounds f'ed up. Jacked up rings or washed down cyls ?? Mine ran til 388 hrs before one of them lost a head gasket, and either of them never used any oil between change intervals. I do remember someone on here having a fuel consumption problem,( rich) and it ended up being an unplugged I.A.T. sensor. |

Yea all that!!!
10 hrs under load can be very bad to a motor not running correct. |
