need help on oil filter/adapter block off for gen iv to vi 454

i am replacing a gen iv 454 with a mildly built gen vi 454 and the only problem i have not solved on the motor is the oil filter adapter/block off plate on the motor. if possible i would like to reuse all of the lines going to the filter and heat exchanger. any ideas or part numbers? thanks

I use the one from Canton Racing, I bought mine from EMI. It is not cheap, billit alluminum with (1/2"?) threads. I use AN fittings with aftermarket oil/ps cooler so it worked perfect for me. I had one that would work for you but a sold it a couple of weeks ago. I am sure somone else has a stock replacement unit for sale. If the engine is turning a lot more HP than stock you will want to upgrade the oil system like I did.

Just thought of somthing else. Be sure the bypass vavle under the filter stud is removed. Also install the 30psi valve on the filter pad. This is critical!!

my engine should not be over 450 horse so the stock setup should be fine for now i would think. i would like to use the stock hoses for now if possible, i plan to upgrade later and then i will use an fittings but for now as few as possible.

Been there done that and blown it up more than once. If you are planing on 450 HP I would upgrade the oiling system. The stock setup was not made for that much HP. Learn from my mistakes. Others should chime in on this.

Remote oil filter Adapter

I'm doin preeety much the same.. I kicked the Merc 500EFI's to the side and are installing 796HP Merlin Gen IV blocks. I need an adapter plate to re-use the plumbing off the 502 Gen V blocks. Any suggestions out there????

The Canton adaptor plate is the best one out there (IMO). You can get it with the 3/8" thread as well to suit stock lines / hoses, or conversely, get the 1/2" one and use a step down adaptor to the stock lines so you don't have to upgrade the adaptor when you upgrade everything else later.
The MkIV block adaptors aren't the same, you need Gen a VI one.

Tafischer: If you like those new motors of yours, do not put them anywhere near a standard oiling system. They'll already have HV / HP Oil pumps in them (I'd hope) and the stock system won't cut it at all. Upgrade Everything to 1/2" fitting and AN-12 lines, get a pair of big Hardin Coolers and I'd also run Canton Mk IV plate with an Oil Thermostat.

Let us know if you need any more info.
For evidence or reasons, search for 'Oil Pressure problems from stock hardware.'

Good Luck!
