TOO OLD, I'm only doing the top side this year, below the rail next year. Also I have done this sort of thing for 28yrs. Mostly cars, a few boats and 1 airplane and that was the worst. The last boat I did only got wet 5 times. Came apart on shut down @220mph. (More Grounds For Divorce) was the name T/A hydro.
Good luck on yours and keep me posted. Geo

GEO, glad to see that your underway. Soundsl like you've gotten quite a ways, hopefully with no encountered problems. Do you think that those seats will work for you, or are you going to use them in the other boat? I've got to finish my interior, but the person doing it wont have time until around May sometime. Oh Well, it's not going anywhere anytime soon. Oh yeah did you see the post from NW Jim about the get together in Bremerton?

TOO OLD, Use 80grit for straitness, or if you have a large area of repair and it had alot of fill, I used a 8" mud hog to take it down enough to finish by hand. That also is a air tool. 150-180 to smooth out prior to priming. I use a longboard or hard block for straitness, by hand, softblock with 150 to smooth area prior to priming. To sand any major area I have with a DA air sander. I used 150 on all jellcoat prior to priming. I have a 26' took about 2 hrs to sand entire boat. I was glad I wasn't doing below the rail though. One thing I could recommend though is using GOOD sandpaper, it's not cheep but remember (time is money and good men don't sweat.:D Happy Easter Too Old. PS my wife asked how old is he and my reply was maybe about my age.:D Geo

Wear ear plugs when using a DA. If your ears ring after noise exposure, you are damaging the inner ear- my right ear rings all the time from working in a body shop to fund my coolige edumacation.

Or could it have been the L-88 427 with headers in my Sleekcraft jetboat?

Well, laid all grafic base color, fri/sat. Painted main color, (brite red/orange) and even with daylight savings time I still ran out of
daylight/warm weather. I won't clear at night, TOO many bugs. I do have pics and I will try to learn how to tranfer them from Cdirve and post them. I promise Les.
TOO OLD, Can't really tell how big or what part your working on but if all those lines were cracks, MAN you have been working hard, real hard.:D

Jayl13 04-08-2002 01:33 PM

what type of base coat, and primer are you using?
What brand?
You spraying or rolling?
Thanks
Jason

Geo 100 04-13-2002 10:45 PM

Well, haven't decided on grafis design as of yet. Spent today replacing front bulkhead and making a sideboard in cabin to mount the amps, changer, and vhf. I guess I am becoming a woodworker, not by choice but I didn't do too bad either.
Tomarrow we will mount amps and reglass entry to cabin floor.
I will try to post the pics I have tonight or tomarrow. Promis.

Geo 100,
I'm glad you got the pictures posted. Your boat looks great! How do you like the spray mask as compared to just masking off the color?
Dan

Geo 100 04-14-2002 02:23 AM

Candyman, I use spraymask when doing complicated multi grafic or as in this case, I traced one side of the original deck pattern used spray mask to trace pattern and then flipped to make matching. I used to use it alot when doing M/C helmets.

Niuhi 04-14-2002 08:58 PM

Geo the boat looks great. Doesn' even look like the same one.
Les

Payton 04-15-2002 07:18 AM
