turbo charging question
I'm running twin turbos on my BBFord and have the older log style exhuast. I have been wondering why no one makes a setup to simply mount the turbos on to of a Sellings style ehaust manifold? The water doesn't flow thru the collecter. It's reintroduced into the riser. The turbo could in effect take the place of the riser and a carb be mounted on the inlet of each turbo. Most marine turbos run a water cooled exhaust housing anyway.
I'm not changing mine, in fact my boat is up for sale. I'm moving up. I've just been wondering. |
I beleive that Richard Lee of Lee performance products makes something like what you are talking about. He has gotten away from carbs now & gone with EFI.
Here is his web page http://www.leeperformanceproducts.com/ |
I have a system something like you're describing. Custom Lightning headers and a fabricated collector for mounting the turbos. We do use an EFI system for much better fuel metering. System is awesome.

we've got a shop locally that said the will build an EFI system for me for $5000. that's a little steep. They also do a lot of turbo race cars. He would love to get his hands on my boat , but I simply can't afford his work.
Check300, you run on lake Michigan, right? How big of boat? and how do you have it propped? I'm running a 26', @ 4000 lbs, and 27" Mirage cupped to a 29" |
I am running a 30' Checkmate. The boat has a #6 drive and I have a 27 3 blade as well as a 28 4 blade. Both props work well a little more slip with the 3 blade.
I don't think that it would cost you that much if Tom did your EFI. You ought to give him a call. |
