RAYLAR AWESOME,awesome
just finished putting raylar 525 kits on ,,,and cant say enought about how everything worked out,,,the kits are kiss a$$,picked up 9-10 mph(speedo) from the last time i run the boat without the kits,,, very first hard run,,never had any g.p.s. numbers,,,boat moves,,,and the extra power makes the boat feel lighter running...boat runs smooth and true turning 30 pitch bravo,(26 bravo s before),with no blow out what so ever,,,stainless marine manifolds and custom tails,,,hardin marine tips give the boat the sound ,,,well you know,,thanks to ray at raylar who was always there to help out with advice,,,to me or my mechanic,,i hit the numbers i was hoping for,,right out of the box,,,that seems hard to do in the marine business,,,fantasic job raylar,,,those long and hard days and nights you put into your work are really appreciated,,,,,,

Ray has a great package. I know who helped develope the heads, who cast them and who machines them and that part is top notch along with the rest of it. I use the same people for my cylinder heads, with excellent results.

Awesome results! The Raylar kits are fantastic! I love the mid-range torque, I cruise @ 60mph all day long and the engine doesn't even break a sweat!
|
Congrats on the performance increase. Over the cost of the Raylar kit, what additional costs associated with the install did you have? I saw that you have added exhaust and props and know what those cost, but I am looking for additional expense strictly associated with the Raylar install.
Thanks, Keith |
Awesome.
Ray and Larry really have the kit of parts figured out on these engines. Enjoy. Uncle Dave |
Oh and...
Picts..... please...
Need some more engine porn.... UD |

Good Job!
Glad to hear another customer achieved wondeful results with our Raylar equipment. If you have a Merc or Volvo 496 and you need more reliable performance, then Raylar has your products!
The Raylar BCK103 kits that TwinSpins used are just a little over $7K each and if you are putting them on a 496MAG (375HP) engine the rpeorgramming charge for the ECM is $675 per ECM. Just some exact info on Raylar pricing. Best Regards, Ray @ Raylar |
Twin, its awesome when the hard earned cash we spend puts a smile on our faces and doesnt piss us off!!
My new Raylar equiped Silencer puts a smile on my face...I gained 7 mph on gps....and the growl...who hoo!! I am still spinning the same labbed 26 Bravo 1 blade though.....although with the ECM re-flash the rev limiter is way higher. Are you getting any black soot on the transom...mine gets black from the exhaust.... |
verbi69,
Did you start with a Mag or HO? |

kr,
I started with the HO... Soots up good ...... I like the look of SD's 600......I always want more...lol |
did you drill out the idle air hole in the throttle plate,,,a little bigger????
|
Make sure you have the butterfly closed all the way or just mostly before you make the hole bigger. I had some minor IAC issues before finding out why things weren't dialed in with regards to idle rpm and the ability for it to catch the engine..
You'll notice an issue when the IAC seems to do the opposite of what's expected of it in terms of duty cycle and from low to high.. |
I have no idea....I had a shop perform the work...is this supposed to be done??
If so what is the benefit?? Thanks |

get a fuel pressure gage on it,,,should be 48-50 psi,,,engine running with hose off pressure regulator,,,3/8in wrench and an allen wrench,to adjust
This applies particularly when you crank the pressure up to the 50psi required of the Raylar Kit (525). |
what are you doing to that cig in your drive????[/QUOTE]
You went by and did not stop ? I fixed some issues with the boat and changed drives to IMCO Extreme SCX's. There was a problem with 1 of the drives and IMCO is sending a new 1. |

no one was home,, |
Must have been Saturday... was out on the boat at the hot hole party and then up to Bobs boat landing.
|
Thanks guys....that might explain why the engine hunts for rpm at idle some times.....not always though.
