Help: MEFI 3 won't rum
 

1999 7.4L MEFI 3, engine cranks over but will not start, spark plugs are dry as a bone, has pressure in the fuel rail, but injectors not firing, hooked up tester and there are no codes. has not ran since winterized last year. any Idea's

yup. get mercruiser factory workshop manual number 16 and a VO meter and start on the diagnostics page in an organized and calm manner and you will identify the problem in 30 minutes.

or you can just guess, try a bunch of things and shotgun parts at it and spend a lot of money and time and maybe make it run... maybe.

there are 50 things that could be wrong... a lot of them simple but you need to check them one at a time and in order.

Excellent advice. Couldn't have said it better. Been telling this to people for years on all manner of boat/automotive EFI systems.

where are all the great mind's at that can fix this over the phone, or in this case the internet. isn't that what the general public thinks.....

all the great minds know that you don't fix these kind of things over the phone... only the guys that still use carbs will guess like that. and that usually ends up with them throwing away the carb, then the distributor then the fuel filters a then the coils and wires and then ultimately discovering that they forgot to put fuel in after the last trip.

don't fall into that trap.
