Weird electrical problem
I just this week replaced two engines for a friend in his four winns. it has 2 350's with volvo outdrives. the engines were salt water with no proper flushing done. it is a 2000. anyways i installed the engines. and hooked everything up. I cant get either to crank. i have power to both starters. the court lights are on dim the switch is not on. the blower switch lamp is on and the switch is not on. it seems like the thing is trying to find a ground. what did i do?

Ok???? where on the engine ?? |
You can put the ground to ANY good CLEAN ground lug. There should not be any paint or rust in that area or you will have a bad ground.

Put the shifter in neutral !!!!
not being a smartass,,,, done that after engine replacement. and to add insult to injury,,,, im out there with a meter and schematic,,,,, wife walks out,,,,, hey,,,, doesnt that lever thingy have to be straight up !!!!!??? GO AWAY WOMAN !!!!!! tunnel vision sucks !!!! KISS ( keep it simple stupid ) starting system is very simple,,,, trace power from starte solonid back to the keyswitch,,,, if you have it,,, like they said,,,, you missed a ground somewhere,,,,, whenever I pull a motor,,,,, I take all the grounds and tie them together with a small zip tie,,,, this way when your laying in there setting the motor in your not hunting for them |

i have a 9.8 volt voltage drop from battery negative to engine.

Jump the starter solenoid to the main +12v going to the starter to see if it cranks that way.
Had an old boat that we had to do that to start it, out running around and the damn starter wire broke. Nothing like laying on a hot exhaust manifold trying to hotwire the damn thing  |
