How Much For A Rebuild.bulldog540
I Have A 540 Bulldog Runs Good But I Feel It Time To Rebuild. Refresh.
Any Idea How Much For A Rebuild On This Motor. |
Going to depend on several factors:
Are you re-using everything and just doing a light hone, rings, bearings, freshening the heads? Are you wanting to change a few things? Without knowing the specifics, I'll throw a number out... but mine will be on the high side, as it ALWAYS takes more than you think... $4k |
Any idea how many hours are on the motor?

Bore, hone, check line hone, balance the assembly (with new pistons), check all the clearances, change springs to fit new cam, etc, etc. Now with parts and labor (on the engine by itself, not to pull it) I'd say you tacked on an additional 1500. Again, I am simply estimating and I try to err on the high side. |
My thought is to do a leakdown and compression check. If all is good, either do nothing or just change the valve springs as a precaution.

great looks like it willl be 4500 . rings bearings lifters deck block and redo heads seems like good deal.
no need for new cam. |
