Oil Filter Removal

Last few times I changed the oil on my motor, the oil filter was a real ***** to remove. I mean it was on there so tight I almost ruined my filter wrench trying to remove it.

Any suggestions? is it that I am putting the filter on too tight? I don't like the bugger to leak :D. I always pre-oil the new filters gasket before installing.

Thanks Jeff

Hp500Efi......So far, I've always had good results just putting oil on the gasket(like you did), then giving it a "quick spin" for it to touch the mount base. Then just that 3/4 turn by hand.

use hand preasure only. They will tighten as they expand and contract. I used to do the same thing you do and crushed the filter to get it off.

Are you putting a hole in the top of the filter to get rid of some of the vacuum? This might help. Spine Tickler
