Ship to Shore Intercom
Random Racing Question...
Does anyone out there know of a way to put a ship to shore intercom (for a racing application) system in and adapt it to Helmets that already have built in mic and speakers? (Stilo WRC). They have an input for the intercom which I'm thinking of putting a splitter in if it'll work. Reason I ask is during a recent race, it was identified that our team needs the ability to communicate with the shore and the best means possible would be to link the helmets direct to a 2 way. My thoughts are that VHF is busy and already in use for the mandatory race monitoring channel so why not use UHF? Mobile (Cell) phones reacted poorly with being dropped in the water and yelling just doesn't cut it. Can you plug a UHF 2 way into the helmet intecom system so that you can then converse with you shore crew without the need to go to your VHF and change channel? Basically, we need an in boat walkie talkie that the shore can monitor and talk to us on. Any thoughts or anyone know of a system like that? Cheers, :drink: John |
I think the piratecom headset might do what you want.

John, did you get this resolved? I just recently did a system for a Stilo helmet owner.
Let me know. Thanks, Tom |
I'll give my mate a call (Fastlane40) they're for his race boat.
I think he said he has found a solution but I'm not sure. I'll let you know. Thanks Tom. John |
Let me know. The guy I did it for is over in Australia. Last name Mazlin. It was a race boat set up. He loves it. I also work with the guys over at Robertson Transportation with the ski race boats as well.
