labor on Gimbal bearing housing
 
What would the labor be on R & R on Gimbal bearing housing?I have all the parts. Its a 97 Powerquest 24" prospect. had one shop tell me 20 hours and another 18 hours both 60 dollors anhour.

Do a search on Gimbal bearing , on this form, and your answers will pop right up.

1080-1200 is not really that bad ....pretty major job .....motor has to come out and then the drive and all componets ... realighment ..... Scary part is what you might find in the transom .....m

We did both gimbals in a 28 Sonic last winter. Sounds about right....and shop rates around here are near $100/hr.

what are some good shops around jacksonville,fl? u joint broke and cracked and broke part of the gimbal bearing housing.

Call J&b Marine in OP small shop but all he does is Mercury ... 276 2585 .....


or westside marine 695 2756 .... tell Les Mike Bell Sent you

I would let Bobby at J&B doit if you can .....m

The last 4-8 boats we have done we don't pull the motor out!!!!!! If you truly do have quality marine mechanics you can do the job without cutting and pulling the engine out. Cutting the back of the transom assy. that they sell on here is the best system and not d rilling each side and putting in the plastic plugs. P.S. just read the cracked bearing housing.....ouch!.....yeah you will probably have to pull out the motor for that work.
