small block to big block questions

First of all Im glad I found this site...I want to upgrade from my 5.7 to a 7.4 big block...any information would be appreciated.....I have an alpha one outdrive in the boat now it is a chris craft scorpian...yes the transom is solid..it is a decked out model..thanks in advance...
