Do you have a flushing kit in the boat? I assume not because you use the muffs but just thought I would ask. If you do then check the valve on it. Mine stuck one year and it did the same thing.

heck I never use muffs anymore and not without a spotter
they always seem to fall off when I climb in the boat to start it :)

I have a low water intake Bravo 1 with a 454 and with mercruiser muffs and the elastic band too much waterleaks and I cant draw anything.

I remove the pipe to the pump and put the hose on the pump and its all OK? Is this normal (I have used muffs and lots of tape ok in the past)

Remove the hose barb that the raw water pump suction hose connects to on the transom plate and look at the hose from the drive. The hose barb allows water to contact the aluminum and corrode it. The corrosion pinches the hose coming from the drive through the transom assembly. Not an easy job with the motor in the boat.

OH there is a plastic insert to hold the rubber hose in the transom assbly. Remove the hose barb, pry out the insert, scrape/enlarge the hole/RTV and reinstall a new insert and the hose barb.
