I know that with the traction control systems on modern sportbikes, especially if you go up to the MotoGP level, the riders basically just pin the throttle once they hit the apex and let the computer control wheelspin. Theirs are a bit more advanced than what you can buy on the regular market, but the concept is the same for the most part.

I am not saying that it would make the boat faster or anything, and a throttleman would still be needed, but it would be nice for the regular poker run and/or pleasure boater who gets a little air and doesnt get out of the gas in time. More of a protection system than anything else.
