Merc TB ign VS 500 hp module

Recently I bought a couple of new/used 500 HP modules off this board. My purpose was to use these with the stock Merc TB distributors and coils. I was thinking that they would be simular to the original type 4 pin modules and and I would need was the plug to wire them up. However after recieving them I see they are a completely different pin/plug type. Can these still be used with my set up? I liked the advance curve they have however do I need the other 4 pin type or can these be used?

thanks for your help.

The HP 500 modules are for carbed

Is there any advice or knowledge on this?
I would really like to use this set up however not familiar with the 500 Hp modules as well as the pin configuration it has.

Carbed 500hp's used both TB IV ignitions and TB V ignitions depending on the year. I'm guessing that you have a TB IV in your boat and you bought TB V modules.
Thye switched to TB V's in 1997-1998 carbed 500HP's.

Thanks Griff,
here is what I have including new merc coils not in the pic. Since being away from the boating scene for a while I never gave it a thought in regards to the modules. So will the modules I have work with the dist. shown. If you need a pic of the 500hp module that I have I can probably post one. Also if they will work does anyone have any harness's
Thanks,
John

I really don't know much about the interchangeability between TB IV and TB V components.

A TB IV module pretty flat and is mounted on a triangular steel plate.

that is the type i am probably going to have to find. i'm certain there are numerous advance curves and can probably narrow it down what would work best for my application. there may be a way for the hp 500 modules to work, not sure. if anyone knows or has dealt with such a thing i would appreciate any hlep.

at this point i may just have to look for the old style lfat (4 pin) as you mentioned. unless i hear different. i may have two hp 500 modules for sale..
