Does anyone know what distributer gear to use on a HP500 Camshaft
 

I recently put together a 496 chevy and used a matched set of roller lifters and cam out of a hp 500 my question is can i use the stock distributer gear off my 454 mag distributer , or do i need a brass one the cam i put in is suppose to be a steel cam not sure what to do ??

Use your stock gear that was on your 454 distributor. Do not use the bronze gear.

ok well i was looking closely at the gear today and the teeth are worn so do I put a new iron gear on?

Just use a standard cast steel gear. The cam gear is made for it.
