Strange ticking/rubbing noise

Hi All, Hope you guys can help me out....You have always been able to in the past. I just rebuilt the 454 mag in my boat(dropped the oil pump pickup and engine no likey no oil) After the rebuild I installed the engine and test ran it on the hose for about 20 min. Everything ran fine, great oil pressure, great temp, ran great. I changed the oil and filter and then headed for the water. I put the boat in and ran it around for maybe 10 min. I raised the engine hatch to see if I had any leaks of any kind to find a strange ticking/ rubbing noise coming from the rear of the engine. When revved up it speeds up and becomes more of a rubbing sound. Almost as if something is rubbing the coupler cover(bellhousing). I'm getting ready to tear into it, but wanted some possible problems to look at. I checked the alignment when I installed the engine, as well as a new gimbal bearing. Any thoughts? Thanks in advanced! Anthony

Thanks for the reply, but I don't have the plate at the bottom of my coupler cover. I can look down towards the bottom and see the bottom of the flywheel.
