No this is a 2009 496 ho new gen with coil packs on valve covers, the more that is found in the brand new chevy trucks, with closed loop cooling system....its 12 higher, trust me, its not the old school 454 with a strocked crank. this is the 2009 496 ho on Mercruiser web site 425 hp tat retails for 14000. Nothing is the same as the 454 block, nothing

ohh okay I wasnt aware of that
14K is crazy for a 425hp motor, you could put 3 motors together for that price
if your interested I still have those .30 over pistons and rods take $200 for them
compression would be around 10.5 to 1 with a 118cc head
theyre in great shape rods have ARP rod bolts installed in them also
if you need help with anything else feel free to email me again, Im more than happy to help you set up a good running combo

The dimensions between the old 454 and the newer 496's are VERY close. I replaced a 454 Mag MPI with a 496HO. Height, width, and length are all within an inch or two.

He said i can have it for $8000.00. So i started thinking.....if i were to buy a 454 or 502 longblock...for 5800, then i need exhaust 2000, intake, carb 600 , fuel pump 200. its going to cost more...

Anyone know of anyone that put a new 496 in a outlaw 24, how fast will it be???
I had the same engine in my 23 Nova, 7.4/330. I swapped it out with a ZZ502/502 and ran that for four trouble free seasons. Went from 57ish to 70 gps all day. High of +72 gps in the right conditions.

Just a thought.
