Sealant for risers gaskets? (Cast Merc)

I plan to split my riser from my manifold this evening to investigate my water flow problems and am not sure what to use to put them back together. I have NEW gaskets but not sure if they require and sealant?

By the way, any of you guys know Art Lilly? I am asking all these question about a Stingray boat I purchased from him. He is a good guy and let me know of problem areas before I purchased the boat.

The latest gasket is a graphite composite and does not use any sealer. It is kind of silver metallic looking. The sealer was a previous setup. I is best to use the new gasket, seems to work better than the previous versions.
