closed cooling pick-up

Hello All,
I have a 502 with a fresh water cooling system , can I run the sea water thru the bravo drive or do I need to run an external pick-up to provide proper cooling for the heat exchanger.Any input would be great Thanks Jeff

You can run through the drive. This is how all Merc's closed cooling systems are done.

External pickups will slow the boat down.
