yellowing gell coat
 

well I know we have beat this subject to death but I need some advice. When I was at the grafix guy yesterday I noticed in his shop with great lighting that my top deck is getting yellowing spots about the size of a basketball, whats going on? has it been spot buffed and this is what happens? I asked the grafix guy and he did'nt suggest buffing it becouse it opens up the gell and then it will fade or yellow faster. He works primarily with paint not gell, what can I do? I did'nt notice it in the sun light but in his shop it looked like ****! wet sand and buff????? help!!!!!!!

I have an all white boat and noticed that it was yellowing,,,
 

I used on-off and it worked GREAT, dont know if I necessarily had the same type of yellowing your having, but the stuff is available at most marina's and is pretty powerful...

This may not apply, but....
I once had a defect in an Acrylic shower & the factory repair guy used a buffer on it. Unfortunately, he got the plastic too hot and it yellowed after a few months. Now I'm stuck with it because it's out of warranty. Still have the dull yellow spots.:mad:
So maybe your problem was that sometime a buffer "burned" or built excess heat in the glass/gel coat??? It seems plausible, but I have no solution either.
