need advice on fuel pump upgrade
So everything else has been changed or upgraded, my fuel system is original.
Its a 93 Cigarette Top Gun with 600~ HP 502's with Blowershop 250's making 5 lbs of boost. Single 1050 dominators on top of the blowers. Current fuel system is the stock electric walbro pumps and the sea water pumps also have the fuel pumps on them as well. I would like to get rid of the sea pump mounted pumops and go to new electric pumps. Can I go to holley blue pumps with regulators and ditch the sea pump mounted pumps? What can I do here? thanks! |

take a look at Weldon's inline pumps -- the A600-A will support up to 800 hp carb'd and the 1100-A will go to 1400 carb'd. You'll need to run bypass regulators with either style but that's no big deal to plumb -- talk to Eddie @ Young Performance marine.

I agree totally on the Holley blue pumps. I have had tons of them fail. They are not very durable. I would use an Aeromotive Street Rod pump.
Here is the regular pump http://www.jegs.com/i/Aeromotive/027/11203/10002/-1 And here is the marine version http://www.jegs.com/i/Aeromotive/027/11211/10002/-1 I normally use the standard pump (the marine version is fairly new) and have never had a failure. I have been using them for about 7-8 years now and have not had one problem with them. The marine version is Coast Guard approved whereas the standard pump is not. The marine version is about $40 more than the standard. You can't go wrong with either one. The other option is a Weldon. They have a newer series of really quite pumps that are awesome. You will need a return, but that should not be a big deal. The A600 would be perfect for your application. Give me a shout if I can help you. Hope this helps. Eddie. |
Hah. We were typing at the same time Jim. Thanks for the referral.
