496 Ho Recommission?

I recently purchased a boat that has been stored and unused inside a building in southern California for 5 years . It is a 2003 with 32 actual hours and twin 496 Ho motors. The fuel tank reads 1/8 full. Any suggestions on how to recommission and what problems I may encounter or anticipate? Thanks....

The fuel tank should be checked as best as possible.

Gear and engine fluids, belts/hoses/filters must be replaced.

Plugs should be pulled and cylinders inspected for corrosion.

Pump out the old fuel.

Anything that needs lube as part of regular maintenance should be lubed.

Philster: Thanks for the response and your suggestions are well taken. I have some concerns about injectors and fuel pumps possibly being gummed up. Am I barking up the wrong tree?

Drain the fuel & change filter. Change the oil & filter. Change the impeller. Inspect belts and hoses.

Fire it up!!!!!!!!! and go from there.

I would disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail and run some expendable fresh fule into a bucket and throw it out.
