small blower ?
What is the height of a small blower single carb like the old 525sc motors had, compared to stock 500 hp intake & carb with 1" spacer under carb. Is it a 177 blower i only want to make 3 lbs boost max what would you recomend. want it to be turn key still but pick up 75 to 100 hp.

I just measured 21" from the top of the block (lifter valley) to the top of the flame arrestor -- this is with a 4" chiller under the blower.
I have 2 complete setups if you are looking, just pulled them off my 525 Hawks, they are in great shape. Dave |

The blower is about 6" tall and the intake is about 2" lower than the stock 500hp dart intake. You would need about 4" inches more of hatch clearance, maybe a little more, which I don't think you have without adding scoops.
That being said, I would not go with 177's on your 500's. They are too small and are pretty maxed out on a 454. I also don't think you'd gain 100hp with 3# of boost. Longevity and reliability is not really an issue. I had almost 500hrs on my 525SC with a top end refresh at 350hrs and I was pushing almost 8# of boost. It was turn key and idled like efi when it was warmed up. Best bet is go with a TBS low profile 250 blower if you want to SC your 500's. They are not any taller than a 177 and maybe even lower. They also don't make as much heat. I still don't think you have the hatch clearance. Probably the only thing that will fit under the hatch is if you go to an EFI Whipple system. |

I have a blower shop low profile 250 on my hp 500 with a demon carb at 4psi and it runs like a EFI just turned 400 hrs with no problems...
