engine build
hello all, I'm new to this forum and in the process of building a new engine for my boat and wanted to get an opinion the hp/torque estimate of my build. here goes. It is a 400 sbc with S/R torquer ported heads (180cc) intake ports. 8.8 comp, 177 weiand blower 6psi, comp hyd roller .555in/.576ex on 113lobe centers , I have long riser ssm exhaust and a 850 sea demon carb. what kind of hp/torque can I expect?thanks for any opinions

DO A SEARCH for CompCams Camquest, they have a free
engine dyno sim. that you can punch in your info, and it will give you HP & TQ graphs, using their camshafts of course! the more info you put in, the more accurate it will be! so be realistic, and you can get pretty close! (the #'s seemed kinda high to me, but then again, I don't use Comp cams ! |
It's gotta be mid 500's or better, I saw in Chevyperformance magazine a 406 with the same heads and similar cam (9.1 compression) do 480hp without even trying, then after carb adjustments and timing it was in the 500's, so you should be in the same ballpark or better if you have it tuned good.
