Every F1 engine on the grid has gear driven camshafts.
They are N/A and if that's not a race engine I would love to know what is. :drink:

they are also nothing like we are talking here....gear drives work fine just cost you 15-18 hp on the dyno...so you decide

Hey EZ post 19 say differant then this last post you said. 19 says "No real race engine has a gear drive". And now you say its notr raceing engine in question just a hp loss is all make up your mind.Seriously not a pissing contest just was looking for some info

Ok, reading this thread..... Im gonna pull my engine here soon and look her over and I put in a gm performance set that made my gen 5 accept a gen 6 cam with the plate between the cam and gear so no button. i am running a gen 6 cam. I was not pleased with the initial slop in the cam chain and relatively no ability to use a degree wheel. my speed shop said a cloyes 9-3149 would be correct for my application. will that fit under my factory timing cover and is it the best bang for my buck?
