1993 30hp Evinrude? how to drop the lower unit?
 

A buddy of mine just bought a Jon Boat with a 1993 30hp Evinrude with a few problems! Where should we start?

1 The prop shaft is locked up!
2 We can mess with it and get it into netural but still the shaft won't turn!
3 We tried to take off the lower unit, but only could get it to come down about 3/4 of a inch? Then when shifted it moves up and down?
4 I tried to get a manual at the local part's store and they said they can't get one? I just ordered one from Amazon but it is going to take a couple of weeks to get here!
5 We are here in Kansas and the guy he bought it from said he had taken it to Texas and used it in Salt Water, could he not have flushed it well enough and now everthing is rusted together?

HELP!!!

shift linkage
 

you have to disconnect the shift linkage. should have a screw under the bottom carb.
