what is the difference in a superchiller and whipple,s innercooler,if you tried both on the same engine,witch one is better,also dollar for dollar,witch is most cost effectave.

The Whipple is much more expensive (about twice the price)than an aluminum Superchiller because of the material. The Whipple is made of cupronickel. It has better heat transferring capabilities and is not nearly as susceptible to corrosion as an alum. one. The Whipple is all but indestructable. You definitely get what you pay for. If you ahve the money, go with the Whipple.

eddie,i don,t run in salt,only fresh water.just wonder how much cooler the intake charge is on both units.anyone out their done any comparison on a dyno?i hope dustin has some info on this,and is willing to post it.

I'm wondering what other type blowers will fit on a Whipple MOAC (Mother of all coolers), since I just happen to have a new one one.

It has a Roots pattern, so any Roots will bolt to it. However, I'm not sure about the front to back placement of the blower. For some reason, I think the blower is moved back an inch. Maybe Dustin can verify.
You can make a 10-71, built backwards, fit a regular manifold and clear the dist. If the Whipple mounting location is moved back an inch, then you would only be able to fit an 8, without raising the blower to clear the dist. Eddie |
Im going to be running The Blower Shop intercooler with a Cupronickel core. It cost me 2800 which is only 600 more than the regular aluminum core.. I priced out the whipple which was 3300...id deff go with a Cupronickel core due to the melting point of aluminum vs Cupronickel... As for the whipple i think ur just paying for the name.....id also like to see some dyno numbers comparing the whipple and the blower shop cooler.

I don't think you will really see a difference on the dyno. Here's an example: I was dynoing one of my 925 efi's. It is a 598 with a 3.3L Whipple. After driving it around, I decided to make a pull. On the first pull I forgot to turn on the water to the intercooler. It made 1009 hp. On the next pull I didn't change anything except to turn on the water. It made 1025 hp with the water. That is only a 16 hp difference from no water to with water. I doubt you would see much of a difference between different intercoolers in a sweep. Now, if you held it on the dyno or held it in a boat, then the differences will show. The core in the Whipple intercooler is wider than the BS's intercooler. I would bet that the Whipple intercooler would have lower intake air temps.
