Agree huge on the machine shop! The previous guy I used is the reason I'm going thru this exercise. I've got my engine at Mercury's engineering department's machinist. Thank god for connections. Wish I had sought him out the first time. I just want to know what I'm talking about when he starts jumping off with different ratio's and part #'s. Thanks for the input.

First thing you should do is find a really good machine shop with great equipment and somewhat knowledge in marine endurance engine builds, stay away from shops that only do backyard work or just drag race stuff unless they are really knowledgable on proper block and engine prep. for marine.

Don't go to big on cam selection as bottom and midrange will suffer.

Good Luck

Hope you have some good aftermarket exhaust or a lot of the other work will not reach its full potential. You will be limited on cam duration without the aftermarket exhaust.

If you go to .060" over bores you'll be at 496 cu.in.'s with that crank and with flat tops your CR should be right at 9.5:1. Are you planning on going with a roller cam? If so here's a nice one.

I am currently using stainless marine exhaust manifolds with 4" straight out the transom. I have corsa silent choice to make my wife happy. I am currently running a roller valve train.

I would love to step up to CMI or Stellings headers but at some point I need to quit spending money on this boat and finish my wooden boat.

Thanks
