Flame Arrestor Questions
I've got a few questions about flame arrestors (marine air filters).
1. What makes it a "flame arrestor"? K&N makes a flame arrestor but it looks just like an automotive style air filter except that it's stainless steel. Is there something special about the flame arrestors that actually put out a flame from a backfire? 2. Will changing my stock mercruiser flame arrestor on my 260HP 350 chevy in my 21' scarab to a free flowing aftermarket unit give the motor any more power? |
Coast Guard Approved!

The same technology is used in airbags. There is a small stainless flame arrestor that stops you from getting your face burned off when the bag inflates.
The stainless weave in a marine product is different than what you will find in an automotive. Tighter knit, and differnet flow rates. And of course Coast Guard Approved! $$$$$$ Probably more than we needed to know! Cya |
