you can also get the SCAT rods in an I beam, 7/16 capscrew model, they are a very nice set of rods! you have to see them
in person, profiled, polished, shot-peened beams, nice big end design, and you can order them for pressed OR floating
pins! Lighter & stronger than the GM pieces- for right at $300.00! I'm running them in my 509!

Are you sure about the weight? I just checked Nada Guides and it
says a 1987 242 with a 260hp engine is 5050 lbs. The newer Formulas
I have been looking at are all very heavy.

Put the biggest engine you can afford in that thing!

You can pull up the old brochure from formulas website and it says 4150 lbs. In 91 they upped the weight to 4650 lbs. So unless formula completely lied about the weight thats it. The boat has/had a 350 mag in it and I was dead even when I would race my friend in his classic 20' century with a 305 in it. That boat can't weight more than 2500 lbs. Plus even with 5 people in the boat I could get it to plane off with little issue. So with the future set up I'll have 70% more torque and double the hp. It "should" be plenty. LOL, this set up better work as much as I've been defending it.
