Welcome aboard. You'll probably get numerous posts here shortly to help you out. I'll save your questions for some experts with good knowledge of such however let us know where the boat is and perhaps someone on the board can check it out for you if there nearby. There are a lot of cool guys and enjoy helping out here. John |

Hey guys... this is sonicbunny's husband...
We have a 03 Sonic 31ss with 575sci's.... Great motors but here is what we've learned... Blowers need rebuilding at around 200 hrs... Heads need to be gone through at around 300 hrs.... we are there now but will be running the boat this season then pulling the heads this coming fall for rebuild. The scream of the blower is worth the wife screaming at how much fuel they drink.... lol |

thats the info i was looking for thx. from what i've read on here bds is the place to get the blower rebuilt? any ideas how much? it looks like this deal might go thru ( i hope) so i might have the blower rebuilt before the season starts ( till on the snowmobiles out here) what goes wrong in the heads?
|
Early 575's had better blowers (Weiand, not B&M) and not so good head gaskets. Later 575's had not so good blowers (B&M's that had bearing issues) but better head gaskets (Cometic ?), from what I know about those engines. We never had any issues with ours and we ran it in North Carolina heat all summer long. It always started right up and ran fine. My wife and daughter did complain alot about the blower whine, though :D
|
the blower whine is gonna be a bonus, right?
|
when is the early versions? i'm lookin at a 2004 so i'm guessing thats the later version? so it's probably a b&m?

I would not go to TBS to get them rebuilt. I, along with many others on here, use Darrin Meyers in MI. They run around 500-600 for a complete rebuild.

do you have a contact # for him?
But motor has awesome potential. And if you have a superchiller IC, future rebuild with Whipple IC and 871 is a dame height as the 573 w/IC. |
Is this boat in Indy or a suburb? I live just South of Indy.
|
Brad Smith in Joplin punched out my 575s to right at 650 hp last summer. VERY happy

DMPE is what I recommend... he just did one of mine.. (the other one was done last year by blower shop). Total bill was 480 and some change... very satisfied...
On a side note... no need to crack the hatch... I have these... http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/214/dsc02480l.th.jpg And of course the money shot... http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/3866/dscf0319.th.jpg |
