Old school ride question

Hi all

I have been reading for a bit now and would like to ask a couple questions on an older boat I am looking at. I like the old look and am looking at an 88 27 Mirage. It needs some work but seems pretty solid for the most part.

It has twin 350 Alpha combos, I am not looking for all out speed but like the performance style.

Primary use will be lake use and some water sports that being said can someone tell me approx. cruising speed on plane?
I would like to run around 30-35 on plane efficently, nice speed for water activities.

Any idea of approx fule consumption on that type of combo as I am sure it is a heavy boat?

Thanks
Mat

personally I would rather have a little lighter single B/Block vs the twin S/Blocks...

I would think your cruising speed for water sports etc. would be fine and obtained easily with that set up. The twin sbc will actually help you out at these lower speeds especially if you have Mirage props or even 4 blade. Something you'd have to play with a little to get your desired running RPM/speed. I really don't think the wake would be that bad either. Heck I've water skied behind a 42 Fountain with trips. It certainly wasn't like being behind a Master Craft though. LOL... As far as the fuel goes I'm not real certain. I honestly don't think I've ever even tried to figure it out on any boat I've had. Not sure if 1 1/2 -2 miles to the gallon would be on the high side???? A lot depends how you drive but however based on what your saying it shouldn't be real bad. Kind of sounds to me like about 150.00 min. for a weekend playing around off and on.

I hope this helps you a little until someone with a little more knowledge chimes in.

Good luck
John

Thanks getrdun that helps. I am use to singles the last one I had was a 25 with a 350. It did quite well just not sure about the twin stuff, I just like the looks of the old girl, and twins have some advantages.

It has 21 pitch mirage plus' on it right now.

150 does not sound bad, I expexcted worse as I could go through that with my 25 but I was throttle happy then.
