HP limit for imco exhaust
I am just finishing up my 509 c.i sidemount whipple engine built. Im shooting for 700-750hp. I currently have some older imco powerflow exhaust. Will this exhaust support this HP? or do I have to upgrade to the powerflow plus or tube headers? Thanks in advance for the help
I had the same in the past with 800 SC hp and no problems if you have the xtra money to burn I would get me a set of cmi headers maybe get extra 2mph for about $3,000 plus
The exhaust will be fine an SC'd engine. I don't think you'll be able to make thta kind of HP with a sidemount whipple though.
whipple horsepower
I am not sure why you could not make that horsepower with a 509 with that whipple,i have a 509 with some big heads and it made 690hp n/a,i would think it should be at least that power with that blower.

At what rpm did it make 690 HP ???
Does the side mount have a innercooler????
Just picked up my engines from Tyler Crockett last week 454 mags with side mount whipples (with intercoolers) 712 hp @5300 rpms 815 ft pounds of torque @3500 rpms fine tuning to be done after break in and installed in the boat:)
yes it has a cupernickel intercool. hey past due, what kind of exhaust are you running? and do you know your cam specs? are your 454's stock or built? thanks

Nice #'s,You should be broke in after the dyno runs,Mine seated the rings on the 3rd pull, put it in the boat, ran it hard, same as with the races cars. keep us posted on how the boat runs:drink: Rob |
getrdunn, dont know any thing about the other blowers compared to the whipples but my choice would be for the fuel injected set up because of the ability to tune and all around running. Will do STRIP cant wait to get them back in and start running and testing props any one have any idea of where i might end up prop wise. was turning 28p bravos 5400 @ 86 mph with 1.36 gears that was with 470 hp per side?? :)
