any hp gains by putting 1.8 on my intakes side on my 500hps carb motors.

I'm sure that one of the engine guys here will be able to answer your question, but if you need a set I have a set for sale. They are in great shape, very low hours, but will need locks.

I would think at the very most you would gain about 25 H.P. Not sure if its worth the cost and effort. You may have to rejet depending on how lean you are. If your doing all the work yourself, then it may be worth it. I would double check valve to piston but those cams are pretty small so im sure youd be fine.

On small blocks we use to mis match the rockers,1.5 on the intakes and 1.6 on the exhaust side..never tryed it on the intakes tho,on a blower motor it may work for more boost/cylinder pressures but on a n/a motor i dont think it will work as good unless you using nos..

So on my 500hps natural you think i would want to put them on the exhaust side.

The gains will vary. If your heads were being held back by the cam, the higher ratio will make a bigger difference.Going to the 1.8 rockers will give you a 6% increase in valve lift, which will translate to about 1-3 hp max gain at each measuring point along your power curve. Higher ratio rocker arms will not effect duration, only lift.

1.8 x .558 = 1.0044" Lift

You can see how these Figures would be Incorrect, because theres already a Rocker Ratio Added to the Cam Lobe lift.

Intake
1.8 x .323 = .5814" Lift With 1.8 Ratio Rockers
1.7 x .323 = .5491" Lift With 1.7 Ratio Rockers

Difference = .0323" Lift

Exhaust
1.8 x .328 = .5904" Lift with 1.8 Ratio Rockers
1.7 x .328 = .5576" Lift with 1.7 Ratio Rockers

Difference = .0328" Lift

So with that being said see if crane figured if a rocker arm ratio in your cam first before you waste time trying to get every little hp out of your set up :)

Your 741 cams are plenty big enough and do not need any more lift or duration. The only place you might gain anything hp would be well out of the rpm range you will spin them at.
