Hey everyone,

I'm hoping you can give my some insight on my stereo issue. Last summer I bought a 2003 33 OL and the previous owner put two subs and replace the amp in it. It looks like he ran this through the circuit breaker on an accessory breaker down in the cabin. It works/sounds good, but when I'm playing the stereo loud and when there is a song with a lot of bass it trips the breaker. My question would it be best to completely bypass this and put an inline fuse there or just put a bigger breaker in? I would think i could get better sounds quality if I completely bypassed it but I don't know.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Direct to battery with a fuse is best. Don't skimp on wire sizing either. Both pos and neg are same size wire.

Do not put in a bigger breaker. That breaker may be sized for the wire it is protecting, (or at least it should be). By going to a larger breaker, it's possible to melt the wire before the larger breaker will trip.

New wiring is a must I would go to your battery switch so you can kill the power to your system. If you go to the battery I would install another circuit breaker right next to the battery just for the system. Without knowing what size of amps you are running I couldn't tell you wire sizes. But if you are running more than one amp I wouldn't run anything smaller than a 4 ga wire power and ground.

If you have anything over a 1000 watt amp i would reccomend 2 gage wire, i personally run 0 gage but thats just personal preference and the thicker the wires the more continuous power running to the amps
