177 Wieand Blower fluid

Who knows the best fluid to use when I change the oil in the blower. And also how much to put in? Anything to beware of when doing this? Blowers are off the engines right now, so figured this is the best time to do it. Thanks in advance....

i use Valvoline Full Syn 75w-90 Gear lube. Not sure of the amount. Just use a syringe to suck it out & then basically put the same new amount back in.

+1

Be sure not to overfill. The Blower shop can probably tell you how much goes in it.

It should have a dipstick or fill/drain hole. The front and back are separate and you need to do both of them. Fill to the mark on the dipstick or until it trickles out the hole. I always ran Merc HP dive lube in mine and it had 500hrs on it. The lube should be changed at least every 50hrs.

I would run the Merc High Performance gear lube in them

rub a good synthetic 75/90, don't bother with merc high $ gear lube, it's priced like synthetic but is conv. if blowers are off just turn over and drain use the dipstick on the front, sight plug on some of the rear, but not all have fluid in the rear..used sealed bearings...Rob

Can I use a synthetic oil?
Only use a heavy duty 90 weight gear oil lubrication which is a non-detergent oil and basically no synthetics. They are too thin.

I use Redline Shockproof.

Is that a synthetic?
