Rocker Adjustment-Dodge/non marine
 
Hopefully someone here can help because I don't feel like trying to find a good Dodge forum. I need to install the rocker arms on a 97 318 (5.2). They are non adjustable, just need to be torqued down to spec. My question is what position the cam needs to be in to do this? One manual says there is a "V8" mark on the balancer that should line up with the timing pointer, then you can tighten them all at once- but I can't find that mark. Another manual says just to make sure none of the pistons are at TDC then tighten them all to spec.(21Lbs). Am I correct in assuming they can all be done at once because they aren't adjustable? Any help is appreciated.

Just take your time and do 1/2 turn on each bolt on the rocker shaft..DONT RUN THEM DOWN WITH A IMPACT!..
let the lifters bleed down and go at it again..they wont hit the valves this way,i torque the bolts to 30 ft lb's..

Don't know about Dodge specifically, but the same principles apply. If they are non adjustable then all you should have to is torque them down and it should not matter where the balancer is at or if a piston is at a certain position. They should have plenty of clearance from the valve to piston since the cam is rotating to the correct position in relation to the piston. This is all assuming that the cam lift and pistons are stock for the non adjustable valve train. If they are not stock, then you need to make them adjustable.
