intake valley pan

Like a dumb azz i put my intake back on 1 motor today only to get done and find that i did not put the metal valley pan in on my 500hps is it needed or not. Im only running them this season abot 40 hours or so then pulling them back out in the fall for 540 kits and goodies.

Thanks Rick

i you have a single plane manifold no! dual plane yes, just keeps the hot oil off the bottom of the intake,,they may run a little hotter...I always run one no matter what intake it is,just helps reduce heat transfer..

I've run them both ways and never noticed a difference. I would leave as is, you'll never notice the diff. I run them now with superchargers to make sure the fuel mix stays cool, but I run my chit on the edge. Most dont.

Here's a story of one that was left out.

HP500's have the pcv valve in the same relative
position.

Good find Jay. My pcv valve was plumbed to valve covers when I ran mine with no intake pan.

Pulled it back off and of course the gasket tore, new gasket tomorrow and back together with the pan in.

Thanks Guys

Does the pcv in the intake need to be used as mine are blocked off and have never been used since iv had it for 6 years now.

I find it hard for that engine to suck out 4 qts of oil that quick...he had other issues..
