funky bilge pump?

My Formula F3LS has a "mechanical" bilge pump that draws from the bilge from one side via hose to the bilge, and of course pumps out the other.

The new bilge pumps all draw from their bases and as such mean I have to mount them down under the motor to be at the low end of the engine compartment. Not easy with the 502 in there!

Does anyone know of a company that produces this kind of a bilge pump. It has a rotating "crank" into a plastic body/cylinder and is not much bigger than the current models.

It always worked real well and it would be great to replace it. Kindof original as well.

Thanks for any input.

Sounds like a fish tank pump.

My Formula F-402 has two of them. They are still available at any marine parts store (West, Boaters World etc). They are made by Jabsco. They cost a good deal more than the plastic centrifigal pumps but will pump a higher flow against the real "head" height of getting watr up to the height of the dump fittings. I looked into rebuilding one of mine, but it was actually cheaper to buy a new one than the parts (and I work for ITT who own Jabsco!).

they are diaphram pumps and are very reliable. They are not as likley to clog and jam up.I keep one with a hose and wiring ready to go.Jabsco is the Manufacturer and you can still buy them. they are noisy but really get the job done.

Thanks all for the input.

I went to my local West Marine and did not find anything like them on the shelf and assumed it was outdated.

Its good to hear you can still get them. I will hunt down Jabsco.

I want to keep it as well for the reliability and how well it pushes the water.

Thanks
